How to book your transfer to Sri Lanka quickly and easily
It only takes a few minutes to book a ride with SRILANKATRANDFER. Our system is very simple and easy to understand. After three steps you will receive a confirmation in your mailbox.
We offer three types of transfers.
- Oneway journeys (from A to B on one date)
- Return trips (from A to B and from B to A on the same date)
- Return - New Ride (from A to B and from C to D on two different days)
You can book so-called "waypoints" for all transfers. This option allows you to interrupt your journey for sightseeing, swimming stops, etc.. This is a very attractive way to add value to your transfer. During your stay, you have the option of booking time for this waypoint under "Extra Time". A maximum of twelve hours is possible. This means you can put together a two-day tour for one-way trips. You book the hotel yourself. We drive.
The first step is to select your departure date in the Pickup Date field on the booking screen. Enter your desired pickup time to the right.
Under Pickup Location you enter the pickup address. The system has a Google Maps interface. So the system will find every address, every homestay and every hotel in Sri Lanka. To the right you can name a "waypoint" if you like. So you can create a stop there. Under Drop-Off-Location you enter your destination address.
On the right you can see a graphical representation of your route, the distance and the duration of your journey.
Please click on "Choose a Vehicle" and you will be taken to step two to select the vehicles.
Here you can define the number of passengers and luggage. One piece of luggage (normal suitcase) and one piece of hand luggage (rucksack, etc.) is always included per guest. A summary will accompany you on the left-hand side of the screen. Please select a vehicle (Select).
You can now optionally order additional luggage or a child seat.

Can the return journey be made to a different destination than the pick-up point for the outward journey?
Of course. Please use the transfer type "Return - New Ride".
An example: Colombo Airport to Galle on 12.12.20 and Yala - Colombo Airport on 20.12.20.
Can the return journey be made in a different vehicle than the outward journey?
Yes, we have access to vacant vehicles on a daily basis. Our German-speaking dispatcher coordinates everything. The booked vehicle category always remains the same. If there is no car available, the next higher category will be used free of charge.
If you want a car there and a van back, please book this way.
How much time should I allow for a transfer to the airport?
Please book your transfer so that you arrive at the airport at least two hours before the check-in deadline. As a rule, you should be at the airport three hours before departure. In addition, our German-speaking dispatcher will call you approx. 48-24 hours before departure to confirm the transfer.
How does the pick-up at the airport work?
Our drivers reach the airport about ten minutes before landing.
The driver will be waiting for you with a name sign right at the start of the public area (in the airport building).
How does the pick-up at the hotel work?
The driver will usually be waiting for you in the lobby. Our dispatcher will also call you again approx. 48 - 24 hours later to confirm the pick-up time.
Does the transfer pass several hotels? Do I share the vehicle with other customers?
No. You have booked a private transfer. Apart from you and your companion, there is only our driver in the vehicle. The route takes the shortest route to your booked destination.
I have a lot of luggage with me. How much space is there in the car?
As a rule, one large suitcase and one piece of hand luggage per guest is standard and included with us. If you specify more than one piece of luggage in the booking process, our booking system will suggest the appropriate luggage.
Is fuel included?
Yes, of course! No hidden costs. Fuel, tolls, parking costs etc.: all included.
Do the drivers expect a tip?
A small tip is already included. However, if you like, you are welcome to pay the driver extra. However, it is not obligatory and the drivers will not treat you unkindly. If you have a different experience, please let us know.
Will I get exactly the vehicle I have booked?
We make every effort to provide you with exactly the vehicle you have booked. Unfortunately, this is not always possible in exceptional cases due to accidents, repairs or planning errors. In any case, however, you will be provided with a vehicle of equal or higher quality so that you do not have to make any compromises.
Can I drive the vehicle myself?
Unfortunately, this is not possible for insurance reasons. But when you see and experience the road traffic in Sri Lanka, you won't want to drive yourself.
Delays, breakdowns and liability modalities
What happens if my flight is delayed?
If your arrival is affected by a flight delay, the driver will wait for the arrival of your delayed flight. As we ask for your flight number(s) with every booking, it is not absolutely necessary to inform us of unforeseen delays. You will find the telephone number of our dispatcher in the documents. He speaks German. If necessary, please contact him by phone or WhatsApp.
In the event of a late departure, it is usually possible to postpone the transfer slightly.
What happens if the transport vehicle breaks down?
In the event of a breakdown of the transport vehicle, we will arrange replacement transportation within the shortest possible time. If the vehicle category drops as a result, we will refund the difference. For transfers to the airport, please allow sufficient buffer time and note our limitation of liability.
What should I do if I cannot find the transfer vehicle at the agreed place/time?
The drivers are instructed to always arrive at the pick-up location sufficiently in advance of the agreed pick-up time. Therefore, if you are unable to find the driver at the agreed time, please check the locations/times stated on your voucher again and call the telephone number stated on your transfer voucher. If your attempts to call fail or the driver is more than 30 minutes late, please take a normal cab at our expense. Please get a receipt for the amount. We do not accept credit card receipts as receipts.
Is Sri Lanka Transfers liable for damages caused by delays?
Minor delays are always possible in road traffic and should be taken into account when planning your trip. No liability can be accepted for delays caused by traffic jams and "force majeure". If the recommended buffer time for an airport transfer is exceeded voluntarily or through your own fault, neither we nor the transport company can accept any liability. If you observe this buffer time, a replacement transport can easily be organized in good time.
In no event will Sri Lanka Transfer be liable for damages of any kind exceeding ten times the total price of your booking. Any further claims should be addressed to the transport company.
What are the cancellation conditions?
If you cancel your transfer more than seven days in advance, you will receive a full refund. If you cancel less than seven days in advance, unfortunately no refund is possible. For booked transfers, the date of the first transfer and the time of departure apply. Transaction-related.
Can I change my booking at a later date?
Changes to bookings are generally cancellations and new bookings.
Rebookings are only possible if a vehicle and driver are available at the desired time. If this is not the case, we can only offer you a cancellation (see Cancellation conditions). If you wish to change the type of vehicle, this will also be considered as a cancellation and new booking. The amounts will be charged.
A rebooking with more than seven days' notice incurs a rebooking fee of EUR 34.00. With less than seven days but more than 24 hours' notice, we will charge you 50 % of the price as a rebooking fee. With less than 24 hours' notice, the rebooking will be treated as a cancellation.
Apart from the rules mentioned above, it may still be possible to rebook your transfer free of charge by prior arrangement if, for example, only the time (not the date) of your transfer changes. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee this.

Who is behind Sri Lanka Transfer?
Two tourism experts are behind it. Jens Hoernig in Germany and Neel in Sri Lanka.
I was annoyed that I hadn't found a reliable and secure planning and booking option before a planned trip to Sri Lanka. I then had the idea on the spot and found Neel's company. He has been running transfers since 1998.
There are virtually no cabs as we know them for overland transportation in Sri Lanka. Every guest who wants to experience Sri Lanka individually is dependent on a car with a driver. There is quite a proliferation of drivers and vehicles in Sri Lanka, some of which have a different understanding of quality. The price calculation is also adventurous. Drivers often drive for a few rupees commission from self-appointed local guides after a hard day's work.
